Choose the small, traditional shallow lake boat(“cun”) for gliding through the narrow canals of the lake.
· Virpazar:this small, picturesque town is the main gateway to Lake Skadar. A short walkup the hill takes you to the Ottoman Empire’s Besac Fortress for panoramicviews. For hikers, join in a guided hike, such as the old Ottoman militarytrails winding through beautiful valleys.
· Rijeka Crnojevića: this tiny, charming lakeside town is the former summer residence ofMontenegrin royal family. Head for Pavlova Strana viewpoint (3.5 km) tosee the postcard-perfect horse-shoe river view. Or take a 7km circular routethat takes you to the ruins of Obod village, and Obod cave.
· Wine: theregion around Skadar Lake is Montenegro’s premier wine region, home to itssignature Vranac grape. Take the chance to visit boutique-family run wineriesand taste their characteristic wine, rakija and cuisine.
